Service Description

This 4- week class is taught by Darlene Olshansky, professional dog trainer and Independent contractor for BFDA. Class meets Sundays at 12:30 PM on April 2, 9, 16, 23. In this class you will learn basic training principles and how to apply them to teach your adolescent puppy to be well mannered. We cover important behaviors such as attention to handler, loose leash walking, recall, and other important skills needed to help develop good manners. You will learn how to be a proactive pet parent to avoid and/or manage unwanted behaviors. Games, socialization, exploration, and working on cooperative care (handling for husbandry, vet/groomer visits) will be covered. Proper and effective socialization will be addressed without off leash free for all. WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS: - Water, water bowl, poop bags - A variety of soft small, soft treats that your puppy really likes - A treat pouch for handler - 6 foot (maximum) leash – no flexi leashes please - Flat collar or harness (NO shock, prong, or choke collars allowed) Vaccine records (parvo/distemper/rabies) are required and must be received at BFDA via USPO or email at least 24 hours before class. Failure to meet this requirement will result in loss of your place in class without refund. We take vaccine requirements (mandated by the State of Iowa) seriously for the health of all dogs. Cancelation Policy

GROUP CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY If a group class is cancelled due to weather conditions, or the Instructor is sick, a make-up class will be scheduled for one week following the last class session at the same time. Individual make-up classes (in the event that you are unable to attend an individual class for a session for which you have already registered) will not be scheduled. Please check your calendar in advance, we do not offer "partial registrations" for multiple session classes. 72 hours notice, prior to the first date/time of a group class session is required for cancellation and refund for that group class session. ***Your registration fee will be refunded MINUS the paypal and/or bank processing fees. Refunds for registration fee for a group class session will not be made within 72 hours of class start or once the session has begun. If a class has only one dog/handler team registered for it, the class will be cancelled. You will be contacted and your payment applied to a different group class. ​
